What are the steps of a new lawn?
After we hydro seed your lawn and the sprinkler system is on:
 
1. 0-7 days: Your lawn will sprout.
2. 7-14 days: Your lawn will thicken a bit and get taller.
3. 14-21 days: The lawn will keep thickening and start to get a lighter green.
4. 21-28 days: The blue grass will start to germinate.
5. Turn your water off after 28 days. We pick up the water system.
6. 28-35 days: Apply a turf food and water it for one day. Turn off the sprinkler system and we will pick up the system. Then you cut your lawn at the height of 3 inches. (Do not apply weed and feed as your grass is too tender to handle a weed killer)

Once a month add a turf food and water. After a month of cutting you can have a weed killer applied.

Apply water as needed, once or twice a week in mid summer heat. After cutting your lawn for a month or 4 cuttings you can apply a weed and feed (temperature below 80˚) water in fertilizer.

After your last cutting of the year apply a winterizer fertilizer.

In early spring apply a turf food with crabgrass preventer.

Watering your lawn after the sprinkler is picked up
Watering the first year is very important.
After the sprinkler system is picked up, watering should be done as follows:
Water your entire lawn once or twice a week.
Water your lawn after fertilizing.
To save water you can fertilize before rain. Be sure if it doesn’t rain to water in the fertilizer.

Fertilizing your lawn
We do offer fertilizer programs at G&S Services. We have a certified applicator that can recommend and apply the fertilizer to your lawn for you. For established lawns we have four step programs that you can sign up for at the start of the season. (late March/early April).
 
1. Pre emergent fertilizer (crab grass/somle broadleaf)
2. Broadleaf weed spray
3. Turf food/builder (optional)
4. Winterizer fertilizer
 
Fertilize your lawn with turf food every 4 weeks to thicken the lawn and to grow a thick root system. A thick lawn chokes out a majority of the weeds. A weed killer can be used one month after your first cutting. Apply winterizer after the last cutting of the year.
